St. Alban's began a mission over 40 years ago and started with a temporary building to allow them space for worship, Sunday School and later a Christian Learning Center.

Today, our temporary building continues to require on going repairs and upkeep.   We started with a Space Needs quite a few years ago and the time has come.  It is not a desire, it is a NEED for St. Alban's to have space for worship, Sunday School, Adult Forum, Outreach, Office space, Storage space, Youth Group space.

Entering into the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus…...
This retreat is an opportunity to experience the richness of the Lenten season, Holy Week and Easter Week in your daily life.  Parish retreatments commit themselves to a half-hour of personal prayer each day at home and go about their daily lives as usual.  Through personal prayer  retreatments will enter experientially into the mind and heart of Jesus in his passion, death and resurrection.

In addition to a daily period of personal prayer, the retreatments will meet for one and one-half hours each Tuesday evening in Lent from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  During this time, they will share their experience or prayer and Fr. Bruce and Susan will offer input on prayer and the dynamics of the retreat.
They will also offer “points of prayer” for the following week. This Parish Lenten Retreat is designed for those just beginning to pray in a personal way as well as those who have been praying for years.

More than 60 educational scholarships available from The Episcopal Church

[March 15, 2010]

Applications are now being accepted for more than 60 scholarships available through The Episcopal Church.
Earmarked for education and schooling for Episcopalians, funding for the scholarships is derived from numerous trust funds that have amassed over the years.  “These trust funds are part of the heritage of The Episcopal Church,” explained Margareth Crosnier de Bellaistre, Director of Investment Management and Banking. “Some of the trust funds date over 150 years.”
De Bellaistre pointed out the oldest scholarship trust fund, The Mary E. Hinman Fund, dates to 1879.

All materials – the list of scholarships, the guidelines, the application form and the instructions for filling out the form – are available online here:   http://www.episcopalchurch.org/109539_110675_ENG_HTM.htm The list of trust funds and scholarships is here: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/documents/ScholarshipTrustFunds121609.pdf

Applications are reviewed by scholarship subcommittees comprised of representatives from throughout the Church. Their recommendations are then reviewed and announced by the Scholarship Committee of The Episcopal Church.  The amounts of the scholarships vary according to the availability of payouts from the funds. Annual payouts from the funds are determined by the Executive Council upon recommendation of its Investment Committee.  Principal amounts of each fund are always maintained.

Deadline for applications is April 15, 2010.
Eligibility:  In many cases, the scholarships are geared to particular audiences and students, explained Antoinette (Toni) Daniels, Co-director of Mission and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. “Trusts are given for particular areas of interest. Some of the scholarships are very specific.”
Among the specific communities are:  American Indians/Native Americans, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Latino/Hispanics, children of missionaries, medical missionaries, men in the ordination process, Pacific Island Americans, children of living or deceased bishops and clergy; Chinese girls; and others.

Requirements:  Daniels noted that there are requirements for applying: the applicant must be an Episcopalian, must be a member of The Episcopal Church, and must have the endorsement of his/her bishop. She stressed that only complete applications will be considered. The complete list plus instructions for applying available on line here:  http://www.episcopalchurch.org/109539_110675_ENG_HTM.htm
