February 2010 News & Events!
St Alban's parishioners contribute to the GREATER BERKS FOOD BANK
on a continuing basis. Wilson Area Food Pantry has been our focus for over a year and they receive a once-a-month Distribution Day.

One year ago we helped to serve over 72 families and that number has grown.  These families live in our own community!   Parents with job losses and families to feed but not the income to do so. Please add a few items to your next grocery cart and bring them to the church.  St. Alban's has been asked to supply:

Canned meats
Canned fish  -  tuna, salmon
Canned ham
Spam-type products
Chili with meat
Ravioli  ~  Spaghetti w/meatballs etc.
Any of the new pouch-packaged fish products
In short, anything with meat or fish that can be kept on a shelf!

Keep Valentine's Day in mind, please open your       to our neighbors who need a helping hand.

QUARTER AUCTION
SUNDAY, March 14, 2010
Gouglersville Fire Company
(Directions at the end of this article.)

The doors will open at 12:00.

Come enjoy an afternoon of fun.

How does the Auction work?

You purchase a ticket for $5.

Your $5 gives you a PADDLE with a number.  Additional PADDLES can be purchased for $3 each additional.

The doors open at NOON which is prior to the actual auction time!  This gives you time to look around at the items that will auctioned.  It also gives you time to get a bite to eat.

Once the Auction is ready to start everyone will be instructed how the auction will work.

Everyone is seated while the items go up for auction.

Depending on the retail value of an item the bid will be 1 quarter, 2 quarters, 3 quarters or 4 quarters. If you want to bid on an item you put the correct amount of quarters in the cup on your table.

The quarters are then collected from all the tables in the room.  Now the fun begins!

Numbers will be called. If your number is called and you didn't bid then you just say "no bid".
A new number will be picked until there is a winner. The winner is then handed the item. And on to the next item.

This is a combination of bingo and an auction.

THIS IS ALL VERY EASY & FUN!

The fun and excitement comes when the attendees can win items that have a retail value of ($X) and they only had to pay in quarter/s

REFRESHMENTS will be available for purchase!  Episcopalians are known for their "good food."
